Our old favorites and
the latest releases are just as captivating. Board games simply cannot go out
of fashion, and we as die hard fans, are happy about that. We have collected
our team’s top list. Choose your likings and spice up the long evenings at the
end of the year! An extra tip: in the Flatcommunity you will surely find
company who are open for fun.

At Christmas time our gaming fever peaks. It is good to give it is good to receive, but the best part is to play! With family, friends, colleagues, group mates, and of course with Flatco neighbors. In our opinion the hungarian classic „Gazdálkodj okosan!” is a great party (the older the boardgame the cooler), and the world conquering, well known Risk will remain on an eternal pedestal, but now we offer you some recent options. Make your choice, call the neighbors and make a Christmas game night in the community kitchen or in the lounge. Let the Flatcommunity build, throw yourself into the fun! Here is the Flatco board game recommendation:

Adapted to the occasion: Christmas tree

Let’s start with a hungarian development, which is as much Christmas related as possible. The winner is the one most skillfully decorates his/her tree with ornaments, gingerbread, cookies and candies. However it is not enough to deal with our own tree, in the meantime one must keep an eye on the others so that we can prevent their victory. It is a tactical game that develops logical skills, but thanks to the 3 difficulty levels you can easily play it with kids, or mixed groups or even with board game veterans.

The Christmas tree can be played with 2-4 people, one round can take up to 2 hours so do not start it after midnight.

Nothing serious: Throw Throw Burrito

No, you did not read that wrong. In this easy to learn, fast paced, laugh out loud game you will not only play cards, but also throw burritos. Of course before that, you have to put togehter valid sets from the cards in your hands. As soon as someone has collected the ingredients, the madness begins: the player whoe reacts the fastest, picks up the plush burrito and throws it at one of the players. The question of course is wheter he will hit or miss. Throw throw Burrito is a great example of how simple board games can be fun. Due to the easy rules and the fun throwing part, the game is recomended for ages 7 and up. 2-6 people can participate at the war at the same time. One round is about 15 minutes , so even in the evening after the gifts and the feast, you can still fit a few rounds in.

Pay-off with the buddies: Munchkin

This is the card game that brings out the trickster in everyone. You can tell by the graphics an epic adventure is in store: glory must be fought for among evil monsters and sily characters, wielding impossible weapons. Of course, no one said that it was a pure game: Munchkin is so enjoyable because we can backstab our friends without batting an eye, and we can screw with our team members who are already in need of help if it means victory for us. Believe me, you’ll get a taste of it – it’s no coincidence that Munchkin has been leading the top lists of the funniest board games for years.

The play time is more than an hour, and after a trial round it is really fun. It is designed for 3-6 people and can be played with children over 9 years old. Flatco tip: we think this is a game for bloodthirsty adults!

For the sci-fi fans: Dune:Imperium

It’s no coincidence that it has won six international awards – this adult board game is phenomenal! A beautiful design, an exciting adventure, and a serious strategic game can be expected if you set up the board. Navigating between court intrigues, rival power-hungry families, and behind-the-scenes agents, each player tries to obtain the most valuable raw material in the galaxies, spice. The game combines deck building and worker placement, where a lot of emphasis is placed on strategizing, then redesigning and quickly reacting to new situations.

The Arrakis adventure can be played by up to four people, over the age of 14, and one round can last up to two hours.

Flatco tip: watch the overwhelming 2021 film Dune together to get an idea of the importance of the spice and the power relations of the empire, then occupy the large table in the club house and lead your house to victory!
