Flatco Loves Halloween

We can’t help it, we just love October: before the Christmas vibes with the stars and parade of reindeers make their appearance, it’s now time for the black cats, scary candles, artificial spider nets and vampire teeth to take the front stage! If you don’t want to miss the most spooky evening of the year, it’s time to make plans! Let’s see what you can accomplish with the proper decoration and costumes!

Of course, people who love this holiday can spend the annual GDP of a small country, but in our experience, less sometimes really is more. The do-it-yourself decorations or your own handmade masks are more unique, get more attention, and save you the trouble of going around two hundred shops. With this in mind, we have collected some DIY tips and last minute easy to do solutions for you before October 31.

Throw a party!

What is Flatcommunity for, if not to gather all the Halloween-manic neighbors and spend a great evening in the spacious community space?! While party organization requires some preparation, it is guaranteed to be worth the energy invested. In a previous blog article you will find the Flatco House Championship post – you can rely on what is described there!

The perfectly equipped kitchen, the stylish lounge and, when its pleasant outside, the roof terrace with a great view can be an excellent place for a little shindig. You could organize a horror themed party, a goth costume ball, a workout in the building’s gym fully wearing costumes, and the choice is all yours. Don’t forget one thing: invite everyone! All you need is a couple of posts in the flatcommunity fb group, and an irresistible poster for the entrance, elevators and rails

Wear a costume!

If you have the time, you can treat yourself to some more serious planning. This year’s Halloween season star will be the Addams family (you know, due to Tim Burton’s new series), draw inspiration! Morticia’s all black, huge red nails with a black wig, a Bald Wig for Uncle Fester and a large dark jacket that you could get for pennies in the nearby costume shop.

Don’t feel like being so scary? No problem! From Anna and Elsa to the Flinstones, on October 31 you could dress up as there are no rules! Reuse old costumes again, turn it into a foolish hat, Lady Gaga, Ghostbusters – nowadays you can basically make every costume work.

If however you remembered at the last minute, there is still a solution! The ghost costume requires nothing more than a large white sheet with some old coffee stains and two holes for the eyes. For accessories anything can go as well, lanterns, bike chains, necklaces with crosses. The black cat costume can also be arranged using everyday clothes, just don’t forget to attach paper ears on a hair strap, and well, obviously, draw a mustache on your face! The zombie is also a great topic: if you don’t have face paint at home (or can’t get it from your neighbor) a cheap red lipstick can also work. The masquerade here is simply brought together with the old torn t-shirt exiled to the bottom of the wardrobe, some dirt and bloodstream.

Decorate!

This means both at the party and your home. You can also dress up your affordable premium flat in festive decorations. Before you paint the walls black (please don’t do that!), let’s take a look at the budget-friendly but very effective accessories that you can make yourself or buy at the nearest home decoration store.

– lights: you can create a ghost decoration out of the Christmas LED lights using tissues, some rope and a black ink pen – or choose from the store-bought equivalents with bulbs in the shape of pumpkins, skeletons, or even zombie heads.

– Garlands: Anyone can cut a bat shape out of paper, it doesn’t take Van Gogh! By gluing the ends of the wings together, you get a nice decoration that can be hung from the ceiling. And if you hold several sheets together with the scissors, the work goes faster. Of course, you can also find a million versions of garlands in stores.

– Spiders web: by unraveling the threads of the thin summer curtains saved from your old apartment, you get a whole pile of decorative elements that look like spider webs, which you can hang on furniture and doors as you like. If you don’t have the patience for that, the party equipment suppliers are just waiting for you.

– Candlelight: Old, half -burned, never used – or freshly bought, stylishly black and red – candles, everything goes in October! In any case, make sure that you do not start a fire.

We wish you a spooky and pleasant Halloween night, and as always, we look forward to seeing photos!
